Townsend Coleman, his former castmate from the Ninja Turtles, who played Michelangelo in the series, verified the news on Tuesday via a post on the X social media network.
From 1987 until 1996, Renaday provided the voice of Master Splinter, a stern and wise mutant rat who served as the turtles’ adopted father figure and instructor of martial arts.
The voice actor was discovered dead inside his Burbank, California, home on Sunday after police conducted a welfare check, according to news.
Due to a recent heatwave in California, his niece Mindy Zachary reported to the celebrity news website that his air conditioning had been out and his home was very hot.
She continued by saying that although the cause of his death is unknown, the family believes no additional research is necessary.
The 70-year-old Coleman expressed his “devastation” at the passing of our “dear sensei,” as the ninja turtles would occasionally refer to Master Splinter.
In The Hall of Presidents, a popular attraction at Walt Disney World in Florida, Renaday also provided the voice of Abraham Lincoln.
In addition, from 1995 to 1999, he played supporting roles in the Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, an animated series that debuted in 1992, and Batman.
