In Botingo, Sopore, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), renowned Kashmiri freedom leader and former chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Professor Abdul Ghani Butt died on Wednesday night after a brief illness. He was ninety years old.
During his political career, Professor Butt also served as the head of the Muslim Conference in IIOJK, according to the Kashmir Media Service.
A distinguished scholar, he obtained a master’s degree in Persian, a law degree from Aligarh Muslim University, and graduate degrees in Persian, Economics, and Political Science.
