Following the ruling Communist Party’s meeting on Wednesday, the administration declared that he had violated party regulations and damaged the party’s standing.
The president of a nation renowned for its political stability has recently been compelled to step down for the second time in just over a year because of party rigidity.
At 53 years old, Vo Van Thuong was the youngest person to occupy the role.
He is also the least serving after his departure, which the National Assembly confirmed on Thursday. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his predecessor, left the position last year after just two years on the job. Because of their connections to corruption scandals, both men were tarnished.
But in the province of Quang Ngai, where he was once the provincial party president, accusations of fraud and bribery against officials and a real estate company are thought to be the reason for his resignation. There are concerns that the police may be conducting the probe for political reasons despite the fact that the case stretches back more than ten years.
