The former Spain and Real Madrid coach was identified as the Hammers’ top contender to replace outgoing manager David Moyes, and he agreed to take the job earlier this month.
Now that the Premier League season is done, Lopetegui’s contract will be completed, allowing him to take over for the start of pre-season, which will involve a two-week trip to the United States to face Crystal Palace and Wolves.
Ironically, Lopetegui spent the second half of the 2022-23 season at Wolves, leading the team to safety. However, he left on the eve of the new campaign because transfer funding difficulties could not be overcome.
Moyes revealed this following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat.
