The British novelist J.K. Rowling and the American tech billionaire Elon Musk appear to be in hot water after being mentioned in Algerian boxer Imane Khelif’s complaint on the online harassment she experienced while competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
If the Olympic boxer’s cyberbullying lawsuit is successful, Musk and Rowling could each be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fines totaling £214,000.
Variety stated that Khelif, 25, complained to the French authorities earlier on Friday regarding the hostility she experienced online while competing in the boxing portion of the major tournament.
Speaking solely for the first time following her complaints against the well-known figures, the Algerian boxer described the oppression she experienced as a result of statements posted online, including those by the tech tycoon and author popular for the Harry Potter book series.
“But immediately after there was a big uproar from big politicians around the world, athletes around the world, and even artists and stars, Elon Musk, Trump.. this thing….. that affected me,” Khelif told El Bilad, an Alegrian news outlet.
