Henry Cavill was almost a James Bond figure in the early 2000s, according to a recent revelation by Matthew Vaughn.
The Argylle filmmaker recently disclosed on SiriusXM that the Man of Steel star was in consideration for the coveted James Bond role, which ultimately went to Daniel Craig.
“You do remember that I was at Pinewood when Henry was trying out for Bond? And at the same moment, Daniel was. I would go meet Daniel and tell him what was going on, and he would add, “I believe they are also considering this young man named Henry Cavill for the auditions,” Matthew recounted.
“It came down to the final two for Bond,” he continued. I also know that your audition was preferred by the director. However, Barbara [Broccoli, the producer], liked Craig more. For the record, they determined that you were too young.
Henry remained mostly silent on the subject, but he did concede that Daniel “did an amazing job” in adapting the well-known spy character. “He and everyone else involved breathed new life into the franchise, which did it wonders,” Henry said.
