Wigan took the lead for the first time on 44 minutes thanks to a brilliant kick-and-chase play by Harry Smith. Shortly after, Adam Keighran crossed, giving the hosts a two-goal advantage.
At halftime, the match was evenly matched with to goals from Dragons prop Julian Bousquet and Warriors’ Luke Thompson, with an Arthur Mourgue penalty goal making the difference.
After pushing Wigan ahead with his 150th career try, Abbas Miski completed a clean sweep in 78 minutes with a breakaway try.
In the Super League this season, both teams were among the early leaders, with Dragons coming in second.
But both had suffered losses going into the game; last Saturday, Hull KR defeated the Warriors, while Leigh crushed the Catalans.
That could have contributed to the close first half, as Bousquet’s try was the only noteworthy play of the first thirty minutes.
