BYD, the massive Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is establishing its first assembly factory in Pakistan as part of a major expansion into South Asia. The goal of this project is to establish Pakistan as an export hub for electric vehicles and to revitalize the nation’s automotive manufacturing industry in collaboration with Hubco, the biggest private electricity provider in Pakistan.
The action was taken in response to BYD’s exclusion from the Indian market because of limitations on Chinese investment. Pakistan’s government, meanwhile, is actively pushing the enterprise, seeing it as a potential to enhance exports to markets in Africa and South Asia.
BYD’s move into Pakistan is a component of a bigger plan to create a global manufacturing presence. The business tries to get around the escalating tariffs on Chinese exports, which include electric cars.
