Tariq Bashir Cheema, a legislator representing the PML-Q, had his membership in the National Assembly suspended for the current session on Friday as a result of rules violations.
One day prior, chaos broke out in the lower chamber of parliament when Cheema abruptly approached Zartaj Gul of the PTI and allegedly used profanity towards her after ending his statement on the assembly floor.
Cheema became enraged when Gul repeatedly brought up the Islamia University of Bahawalpur scandal during his address.
The PTI members were infuriated by P Cheema’s “inappropriate” statements for Gull, and they proceeded to the Treasury benches to seize him. However, the MNAs from the ruling alliance saved him.
After the regrettable event, the erstwhile ruling party announced that it was considering filing a firstinformation report (FIR) against Cheema.
In the meantime, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq intervened in the incident and resolved the issue in a dignified manner.
