Archaeologists have uncovered a 16th-century caravanserai in Harappa, offering new insights into the subcontinent’s historic travel and postal systems, the Punjab Archaeology Department announced.

Punjab’s government has allocated Rs800 million for archaeological work across four major historical sites in the province. Harappa, part of the Indus Valley Civilization and a UNESCO World Heritage site along with Mohenjo Daro, has long been recognized as a cradle of urban culture in the Indian subcontinent.
