No Military. Cadets This Year
This year the parade will not have military equipment or cadet groups. Russias defence ministry said current military conditions made this decision necessary.
Cadets from schools like Suvorov and Nakhimov schools won’t take part. There also won’t be tanks or armored vehicles which’re usually a big part of the event.
The parade will still have members from different branches of the armed forces. A fly-past is planned, adding an element to the ceremony.
Russia and Ukraine are having problems. Ukraine is carrying out strikes inside Russian territory. These attacks have increased over the few months targeting what Kyiv says are military sites.
Russia says Ukraine is doing ” actions.” Peskov claimed Ukraine is escalating its activities as it struggles on the battlefield
Victory Day is a deal, in Russia. It marks the Soviet Unions win over Nazi Germany in World War II.
In years the parade showed off Russias military strength. President Vladimir Putin brought back military hardware displays in 2008.
Years parade was very grand. It marked an anniversary and had modern weapons, tanks and drones. Many world leaders attended.
This years celebration is different. Russia will focus on personnel and aerial displays of showcasing military equipment.
The defence ministry will broadcast footage of troops operating in Ukraine.
There were reports this month that the parade would be scaled back. Some pro-government bloggers mentioned the growing risk of range Ukrainian attacks.
