Government Rejects Protest Crackdown Claims

Deadly Clashes Rock Rawalakot Protests

The primary protest site in Rawalakot, Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PAK), is not far from Dr. Anwar’s temporary clinic. There is a bed outdoors beneath red stretched canvas, and a spare bedroom serves as a medical supplies cabinet.

Shafqat Hussain, shot in the chest, lies on the other side of the bed. The blood from his prior injuries has already discolored the sheet he is lying on. He’s dying.

Conflicts between security personnel and demonstrators from the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) have claimed dozens of lives around the area in the past two months.

Elections are now being held in this region, which has a population of roughly 4.5 million.

Makeshift Clinic Treats Gunshot Victims

The news is the first media outlet to visit Rawalakot and interview those who are at the center of the demonstrations.

“We have enough supplies to provide first aid,” says Dr. Anwar, whose name has been altered to protect donors like the majority of others in this piece.

We can remove superficial bullets, clean and patch wounds, and stop bleeding.

However, sophisticated hospitals are required for patients with severe injuries to the head, abdomen, chest, or other essential organs.

Anwar says: “Even major hospitals would struggle if many such patients arrived at the same time.”

According to the doctor, the facility has handled between 50 and 60 seriously injured patients since July 27. He personally treated 15 to 20 patients who had bullet wounds.

Basic Rights Drive Kashmir Protests

Ali, Hussain’s buddy, is beside his bedside. He uses his scarf to wipe away his tears. He tries to control his cries as he explains.

“We only asked for affordable flour, electricity, and our basic rights.” Rather, our brothers are being murdered. What did we do wrong? Why are we being shot with live ammunition?”

The JAAC protesters claim that the protests are about their rights, citing issues with health care, education, and power costs.

In October, the governments of Pakistan and Pakistan reached an agreement that was intended to assist. According to the JAAC, it has not been put into practice.

The local administration doesn’t agree. They claim that the gang is armed and that their goal is to interfere with the current elections.

Mother Loses Son During Protests

The JAAC was designated as foreign-funded terrorists and was outlawed in June.

They deny this description, claiming to be non-sponsored by India and to be peaceful despite receiving funding from the PAK community outside.

Instead of starting the violence, they claim that Pakistan’s security forces have been shooting at them and that they are the victims.

Obtaining information has been challenging because of the internet outage and the closed or guarded highways.

After arriving in the city, the television channels met with several families who claimed to have lost loved ones who were shot during the demonstrations.

Asma claimed that she was there at the demonstration when she learned that her only son had been shot.

Families Grieve Protest Victims

Asma said that when she learned her only son had been shot, she was there at the demonstration. All we were requesting was our rights.

“We’re not terrorists,” she declared. “No mother could ask for a better son.”Although he was aware of the dangers, he thought it was crucial to defend justice.

He once said that it was an honor to die for a worthy cause. He was adored by all and the youngest member of the family.

He remarked, “It is a huge loss for us.”In addition, I am honored that he sacrificed his life to defend people’s rights. He wasn’t engaged in combat or assaulting anyone.

Retired Veteran Mourns Son's Death

While in the service, Ayub lost his child.

Instead of placing the blame on the Pakistani military or government, he made reference to the Pakistani government and asserted that they were the ones who called in the paramilitary forces.

I served in the military and am now retired. “I experienced both General Zia-ul-Haq’s and General Pervez Musharraf’s periods of martial law,” he said.

But I have never seen anything like what is happening right now.

I consider that to be quite unjust.”My son had nothing wrong with him. None of the protesters were flawed.

Government Rejects Protest Crackdown Claims

The PAK government has stated that it denies the claims that security forces opened fire on peaceful demonstrators without cause.

Claiming that law enforcement took action against those who had attacked law enforcement officers, endangered public safety, or interfered with legitimate authority.

Food shortages were observed by the news, and many demonstrators shared what they had with one another.

The majority of stores were closed. The news was informed by several of attempts to sneak rice sacks on the backs of motorcycles.

The officials claim that the JAAC was responsible for blocking several of the city’s highways with fallen trees. There are now security checks at other places of entrance on the major route.
