With just three weeks till November, the Republican Party’s midterm campaign has devolved into a triage operation as officials scramble to avoid losing a number of once-safe seats that they increasingly believe could cost them complete control of Congress.

GOP operatives in a number of battleground states have been disturbed by the deteriorating situation, which has forced the party to invest heavily in historically red districts and regions at the expense of their previously ambitious goals in Democratic areas.

Trump’s Unpopularity Threatens GOP Election Hopes

Additionally, some Republicans are concerned that President Donald Trump has become so unpopular that his presence on the campaign trail may occasionally be more detrimental than beneficial after months of pressuring him to increase his travel on favor of important candidates.

Regarding the president’s numbers, one House Republican seeking reelection stated that “Trump is dragging the party down.”

The GOP’s bleak picture comes after weeks of polls that showed Republicans in danger of losing their once-solid majority and on course to lose the House due to strong voter outrage over the Iran war and growing living expenses.

Republicans Pour Millions Into Competitive Senate Races

Republican leaders’ attempts to make up ground by releasing hundreds of millions of dollars in the final stages have been challenged by the growing number of tight races.

Despite having a sizable financial edge thanks in part to the pro-Trump super PAC MAGA Inc., Republicans’ odds have not been considerably improved by spending thus far since more funds are being diverted into elections that were previously thought to be easy victories.

Kansas hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1932, and the biggest GOP super PAC in Senate elections, the Senate Leadership Fund, has already canceled its ad bookings in North Carolina.

Trump’s Texas Push Amid Growing GOP Concerns

In addition, the Senate Leadership Fund has spent over $100 million in Texas to promote Ken Paxton, who is trying to bolster GOP support in his contest against Democrat James Talarico following a brutal primary battle.

In only one month, Trump has already made three trips to Texas to mobilize voters in support of Paxton.

One Trump adviser stated, “We were all hoping the war was going to be over now, but it’s not.” “Obviously, we fight, even though we shouldn’t in a state like Texas.”

GOP Senate Majority Faces Mounting Election Threats

The GOP has likewise received scant comfort from the Senate map. Republican officials, who already think Paxton is running a bad campaign, are much more irritated by the steady stream of damning audio leaks from a private fundraiser. While making insurgent campaigns in firmly red areas like Alaska and even Kansas, Democrats maintain polling leads in swing states like Georgia and North Carolina.

Jason Roe, a Michigan Republican strategist running against Democratic opponent Will Lawrence, stated, “I don’t know that the environment could possibly get worse than it is.” “It couldn’t have been won if we lose.”

Republicans Hope to Avoid a Blue Wave

However, there remains hope that Republicans can minimize their losses and reduce the likelihood of a blue wave to a mere ripple. In the final days of the campaign, Trump advisers anticipate that polling in close states will tighten, particularly when more advertisements start to air and less engaged Republican voters start to pay attention.

“It will be amazing, but I’m not saying we’re going to f***ing win. I’m not saying that, though. Do we, nevertheless, perish? “No, we won’t be wiped out,” declared a fellow Republican in the House seeking reelection.
