Barrister Gohar Khan, the top leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), demanded the release of the party’s “political prisoners,” including founder Imran Khan, in response to Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s “healing touch” statement on general elections.
The army commander congratulated the nation on the conduct of the February 8 polls on Saturday, saying the nation needs stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and divisiveness.
Gen Munir had stated that Pakistan’s various politics and diversity will be well-represented by a unified government of all democratic forces imbued with national purpose.
