Kieron Pollard’s sparkling 33-ball 58 and Mir Hamza (2-31) helped Karachi Kings upset Lahore Qalandars for the fourth time in a row in the 10th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) ninth edition on Saturday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Karachi Kings’ Innings
Chasing a target of 175-6, the visitors finished the equation in the penultimate delivery, with Mir Hamza scoring a run off Ahsan Hafeez.
Following an early setback, the Kings lost four wickets to 44. However, it was Pollard and Shoaib Malik’s immense experience that enabled the Kings to create a comeback in the contest. The two had accumulated a 95-run partnership in just 59 balls, which definitely lent urgency to the Kings’ innings.
Irfan Khan (12 off 10) and Mir Hamza (1 off) stayed unbeaten as the Kings easily defeated the Qalandars.
Other batters, including Shan Masood (10), Muhammad Akhlaq (7), James Vince (8), Mohammad Nawaz (15), Daniel Sams (7), and Hasan Ali (9), failed to provide much opposition with the bat.
For the Qalandars, Zaman Khan (2-25) and Ahsan Hafeez (2-19) each took two wickets.
Haris Rauf (1-22) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (1-34) each claimed a scalp.
George Linde (0-25) went wicketless.
