James’s first goal of the game on Thursday against Manchester City proved to be the difference.
In the last season under manager Emma Hayes, Chelsea hopes to join the ranks of the second team to win four straight titles.
“I’m sure everyone has that little bit more in them for Emma,” remarked James.
Chelsea leads the Women’s Super League, has advanced to the League Cup final, and is currently in the FA Cup and Champions League quarterfinals.
The only English team to win four titles is Arsenal, who did it in 2006–07.
