ISLAMABAD: According to The News on Friday, Pakistan reiterated that it was not in talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and that it had no future plans to engage in negotiations with the terrorist group.
“Let me restate what we previously discussed. Pakistan is not in communication with the TTP, a terrorist organization. According to Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a spokesman for the Foreign Office, “We have no plans to hold these talks with TTP.”
The spokesperson stated that Islamabad “expects the Afghan authorities to take action against these terror groups and their leadership for the crimes they are committing and terrorist attacks for which they are responsible” in response to the Afghan deputy interior minister’s recommendation that Pakistan and TTP should resolve their differences through dialogue.
The declaration follows last week’s terror incident in Shangla that killed at least six people, including five Chinese engineers who were working on the Dasu Dam.
News had been informed by sources that the TTP-affiliated groups are thought to have been responsible for the deadly attack on March 26.
