“Determined to seek justice” is how the family of a three-year-old boy who died in a car crash involving well-known Ghanaian actor and musician Lil Win has expressed their intentions.
Following the collision on May 25, the youngster passed away in a Kumasi hospital, according to local media.
Lil Win, whose true name is Kwadwo Nkansah, was also brought to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. On Monday, upon his release from the hospital, he was detained.
Before his arrest, the actor’s production company described the crash as a “tragic accident” in a statement.
Lil Win appeared in Kumasi’s Asokore Mampong District Court on Monday and was charged with reckless driving and inflicting injury by negligence.
He was given bail in the amount of 50,000 Ghanaian cedis (£2,630; £3,355) and was not required to make a plea.
The court decided to postpone the case until June 27.
Later, two of Nana Yaw’s three-year-old boy’s relatives informed Angel FM, a local radio station, that they expected the police to look into the situation in great detail.
Men in the group declared, “We are determined to seek justice for our child.”
The family had accused Lil Win of not communicating with them after the crash until he learned that a small child had died. The actor has remained silent about the accusation.
Jacob Kofi Amponsah, the boy’s father, is still in the hospital.
Following the crash, Lil Win’s new movie, A Country Called Ghana, was not going to have its premiere.
