In January, Bronson Battersby’s body was found dead between Kenneth Battersby’s legs at their Skegness, Lincolnshire, home.
The toddler “appeared to be quite malnourished” when he was found, according to testimony given at the toddler’s death examination.
The remains of the two were found after a neighbor alerted the police on the afternoon of January 9th, according to information presented during a brief hearing on Thursday at Greater Lincolnshire Coroner’s Court.
A detective sergeant formally identified Bronson’s body on January 15, three days after a post-mortem examination at Leicester Royal Infirmary confirmed that dehydration was the cause of death.
During the hearing, Claire Rimmer, a detective inspector from Lincolnshire’s eastern protecting vulnerable persons unit, also testified. She described the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Bronson’s body.
According to Ms. Rimmer, Bronson shared a Prince Alfred Avenue basement apartment with his father, who had split up with the toddler’s mother.
A neighbour complained that she hadn’t seen Mr. Battersby “for several days and there was a smell coming from the flat” about 3.25 pm on January 9, the senior officer said during the inquest.
