It is thought that the action is intended to improve national security and safety.
The move is a component of initiatives to stop Pakistani nationals from traveling abroad without authorization while posing as asylum seekers. Sources claim that anybody who apply for asylum elsewhere for any reason will not be able to get a Pakistani passport.
Additionally, the Interior Ministry has made it clear that passports belonging to people who are currently applying for asylum overseas will not be revoked or renewed. The government’s resolve to upholding stringent oversight over passport issue procedures in order to protect national interests is demonstrated by this decision.
In order to properly execute the new policy, the Interior Ministry has sent an official letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other pertinent authorities in accordance with Minister Naqvi’s directive.
