LONDON/RAWALPINDI: Four individuals, including two revenue officials, have been found guilty of multiple counts of cheating, manipulation, and fraudulent ownership paper forgery to a prominent British Pakistani family. The judges, sitting in district and sessions court of the Anti-Corruption Court in Rawalpindi, have handed down sentences totaling 96 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5.8 million.

The accused Aurangzeb Patwari, Malik Muhammad Safdar, Muhammad Almas Abbasi, Haq Nawaz Abbasi, and Raja Shahid Ahmed have been sentenced by Anti-Corruption Court Special Judge Ali Nawaz for their fraudulent occupation of the lands and their use of fraudulent forgery in the papers of British-Pakistani businessman Nisar Ahmad Afzal.

Following the devastating verdict, the guilty, who were previously out on bond, were taken to the Adiala jail.Hamzah Afzal of Edgbaston, Birmingham, and his father Nisar filed a fraud case in November 2021 in Rawalpindi regarding the fraud on their lands in the Rajar Tehsil of the Rawalpindi District. This was due to officials of the Revenue Estate’s land record, Aurangzeb Patwari and Malik Muhammad Safdar, engaging in a criminal conspiracy to forge the land record and transfer it to three powerful men: Almas Abbasi, son of Mohammad Aslam; Haq Nawaz Abbasi, son of Kudadad Khan; and Raja Shahid, son of Raja Bashir. These men received the proceeds of the embezzlement in collusion with officials of the land record and each other.
