During his Monday court hearing, the key suspect—who was apprehended from Balochistan—escaped from police custody.
Iftikhar Ahmed, the lockup in-charge, filed a complaint that led to the case being registered. According to the FIR, constable Ishtiaque Ahmed approached him when the prison vehicle arrived.
Iftikhar Ahmed said in his plea that Zahir Ali left the lockup as soon as the gate was unlocked to take him to the jail.
Taking advantage of the vast number of people on the court premises, the suspect made his escape. Constable Ishtiaque Ahmed has been detained for carelessness following the filing of the charge.
It is important to note that the accused Zahir was taken into custody by the Balochistani Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Police in relation to Itteqa’s murder.
