KARACHI: Despite the city experiencing very little rain in the previous several days, the meteorological agency has forecast that the heat wave will end tonight.
For the past few days, the port city has been experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures climbing beyond 40°C and feeling like they are about to surpass 50°C.
Long-term load shedding is also making life difficult for the majority of people.
The most recent weather advice for the city was issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and it said that as the low-pressure system that caused the sea winds to suspend travels away from the port city, the degree of heat is expected to decrease starting this evening.
“As the low-pressure area has moved, the persistent extremely hot and humid weather conditions [are likely to ease] starting this evening.”
Moreover, a far-off low-pressure system will bring back the sea wind.
Over the following two days, it is anticipated that the general weather will stay hot and muggy.
Nonetheless, Karachiites, who are impatiently awaiting rain in the sweltering heat, are predicted to be treated to a small drizzle or shower this evening.
The temperature is projected to drop tonight, with a high of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius due to the return of the winds and probable precipitation.
The Met Office reports that 38°C was the highest temperature ever recorded.
