Biden attributes his subpar debate performance to travel and jet fatigue.

President Joe Biden told reporters that he "wasn't very smart" for "travelling around the world a couple of times" prior to the debate, blaming his subpar performance in the debate last week on jet lag.

I almost passed out on stage because I didn’t pay attention to my staff,” he claimed.
The 81-year-old Biden last arrived back from his trip on June 15, which is almost two weeks before the June 27 debate.
The president’s comments coincide with concerns inside the party about his mental health in the run-up to November’s election, as well as after a Texas congressman became the first sitting Democratic politician to call for the president’s resignation after the discussion.
Rep. Lloyd Doggett stated in a statement, “I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw.

Last Thursday during a debate with former President Donald Trump, Mr. Biden seemed to stumble over some of his remarks.
Speaking about his travels, he stated, “It’s not an excuse but an explanation,” on Tuesday night at a private event in Virginia.
According to News, he also expressed regret for his performance and stated that winning re-election was “critical”.
After spending the night in Italy, he joined former President Barack Obama for a fundraiser on June 15. The next day, he went back to Washington, DC.
Prior to the debate, White House officials claimed he was suffering from a cold.

The president made no mention of any illnesses during his Tuesday speech. A White House representative stated earlier in the party.
