The operation was conducted, according to Faizullah Faraq, a GB government spokeswoman, in order to capture the individuals responsible for the most recent terrorist attack on a passenger bus on the Karakoram Highway.
During the operation, four GB forces scouts also suffered injuries.
The terrorist who has since died was a part of the December 2017 attack on the bus that claimed eight lives.

It is important to note that in Chilas, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), there was a bus shooting that resulted in at least eight fatalities and twenty-six injuries.
Deputy Commissioner Diamer Captain (Rtd) Arif Ahmad reported that the incident happened in the Chilas district and that a passenger was shot by unidentified assailants.
