After Lord Cameron, the foreign secretary before Labour’s election victory on Thursday, resigned from Rishi Sunak’s frontbench, his deputy Andrew Mitchell took over in the shadow role.
The former prime minister wrote on X that it had been “a huge honour to serve,” but the Tories would have to follow the new foreign secretary from the Commons while they were in opposition.

In addition, Richard Holden has resigned as Tory party chairman, although he managed to hold onto a seat in last week’s ballot; Richard Fuller will take over in the interim.
