Erlinda Johnson, the special prosecutor, made the remarks on Wednesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico, as she began the case against the Hollywood star.
The defense team, however, painted a different picture, claiming that although Baldwin “was an actor, acting” and “committed no crime,” cameraman Halyna Hutchins’ death was “an unspeakable tragedy.”
On the first day of the trial, the jury was also shown video of medical personnel frantically attempting to treat director Joel Souza, who was also injured, and save the cameraman, who was referred to as a “vibrant 42-year-old rising star”.
There were also video clips of Baldwin both before and after the shoot.
The 66-year-old has entered a not guilty plea to charges of involuntary manslaughter, insisting that he did not pull the trigger of the gun and was not in responsibility of making sure everyone was safe on set.
And according to his lawyers, the crucial question that must be addressed is how the live round got there in the first place. A crime scene technician testified later in court, stating she thought she had retrieved six live rounds altogether from the set.
