On Monday night, while conducting a search operation in the forests of Jammu’s Doda area, security troops came under fire.
Five troops perished last week in a vehicle ambush in a different area of the territory that is contested by Pakistan and India.
Since 1989, thousands have died in Kashmir as a result of an armed insurgency against Indian rule; however, recent years have seen a decrease in bloodshed.
However, recent months have seen an increase in violence in the otherwise tranquil Jammu region. Since then, the area has seen at least eight documented attacks.

Thirty-three people were injured and nine people died last month when suspected terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in the area.
Five troops lost their lives in an ambush in the Kathua district on July 8.
The shootout on Monday night reportedly started when terrorists who were concealed in trees opened fire. In a statement, the Indian army claimed that during a search conducted in response to intelligence reports, its personnel were fired upon.
The army reported on X that five soldiers suffered serious injuries during the gunfight with the insurgents. Later, injuries claimed the lives of four of them.
According to officials, reinforcements have been sent immediately to the scene to stop the attackers from leaving.
