The prime minister will give emergency personnel the full support of the government in the wake of this week’s violent outbreaks in Southport, London, Hartlepool, and Manchester.
On Thursday afternoon, Sir Keir is scheduled to meet with senior police leaders in Downing Street. It is anticipated that he would commend them for their “bravery” in handling the stabbing event as well as the protests.
He will urge them to use their authority to “stop mindless violence in its tracks and make sure justice is served,” but he will also state that the right to peaceful protest “must be protected at all costs.”
