A dedicated airplane has returned the mortal remains of the Pakistani pilgrims who perished in the tragic bus accident in Yazd, in neighboring Iran.
Near the Taftan-Dehshir checkpoint, a bus carrying pilgrims taking part in Arbaeen smashed into a wall and overturned due to speeding and brake failure, killing as many as 28 Pakistanis.
After the collision, the car caught fire, injuring several more people.
Pakistani pilgrims were to be sent home using special fighter aircraft, under Prime Minister Shehbaz’s command. Near midnight on Friday, the special flight containing the pilgrims’ dead bodies landed in Jacobabad.
Some of the injured were reportedly being returned home with the remains, according to earlier reports from Iranian officials.At the airport in Yazd, a special ceremony honoring the departed took place prior to the aircraft taking off.
The reports added that the ceremony was attended by the governor of Yazd, as well as some representatives of the local government and the Pakistani embassy.
