The FBI in the US is looking for Apollo Quiboloy, who calls himself the “owner of the universe” and the “appointed son of god,” on suspicion of importing large amounts of cash and trafficking in sex.
Prior to his Sunday arrest, the megachurch preacher was also wanted in the Philippines.
Before the missionary was apprehended, about 2,000 police personnel were engaged in his search.
According to local authorities, he was discovered hiding during the weeks-long search inside a “Bible school” at the expansive compound held by his church, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), in the southern city of Davao.
Longtime buddy of former president Rodrigo Duterte Quiboloy will receive “no special treatment,” according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s statement on Monday.
“We will treat him like any other arrested person and respect his rights,” stated President Marcos.
We’ll show once more how dynamic, active, and functional the Philippine legal system is.
On Monday, Quiboloy also made an appearance in front of the press.
The 74-year-old televangelist, who is renowned for his lengthy speeches, chose not to respond.
