Before many prominent leaders could speak, the much-anticipated but time-constrained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Lahore abruptly came to an end. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the fiery leader of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, failed to arrive at the venue before the 6pm deadline set by the city officials in the conditions-laden no-objection certificate (NOC).
Following the deadline’s expiration, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and other party leaders were forced to leave the platform by Lahore police, who also turned off the lights and microphone.
The first-tier leadership, with the exception of Gohar and Salman Akram Raja, did not speak to the rally attendees, who, according to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, were barely in their hundreds.
Bokhari further chastised Gandapur for ignoring the problems that his province was facing.
