Following reports of declines in Mpox cases in hotspots throughout Africa, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that the disease is no longer an international health emergency.
A new strain of Mpox began spreading from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighboring countries in August of last year, prompting the UN health agency to declare an emergency, its highest level of warning.
