KARACHI: When FIFA authorized midfielder Etzaz Hussain’s change of sporting nationality, allowing the Norway-born player to play for the national side, Pakistani football saw a major boost.
The 32-year-old, who formerly played at Molde FK with attacker Erling Haaland, finalized the transfer after FIFA confirmed it earlier this week.
Hussain had expressed his desire to don the green jersey and had obtained a Pakistani passport in early 2024.
Hussain is among the most accomplished players in Norwegian football. He has won three Norwegian Cups with Molde and four Eliteserien league crowns. He also shares the status of being the club’s joint-most successful player with seven trophies.
