Even though Meta is under fire for how it handles child safety on social media, the firm is slated to up its ante on AI-powered augmented reality devices with new smart glasses at its annual Connect event on Wednesday.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg is scheduled to introduce Meta’s first consumer-ready smart glasses with an integrated display at its Menlo Park, California, headquarters. Analysts estimated the item would retail for approximately $800.
Internally codenamed “Hypernova,” the glasses are expected to be launched as “Celeste,” analysts said, and will feature a small digital display in the right lens for basic functions such as notifications.
