Pakistan has informed the UN Security Council that the biggest threat to its national security is still terrorism from Afghanistan, and it has called for the matter to be addressed as a top priority for regional peace.
Several terrorist organizations, such as Daesh-K, Al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and Majeed Brigade, continue to operate from Afghan sanctuaries, according to Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, who was speaking at the Council’s briefing on Afghanistan.
