KARACHI: In preparation for the local government (LG) by-elections on Wednesday, September 24, the Sindh government declared a public holiday in 14 districts on Monday.
28 LG seats will be up for grabs in the next by-elections, the province government announced.
Two district council seats, six chairmen, seven vice-chairmen, and thirteen general ward members from 14 districts will all be up for by-election.
1,512 personnel, including 14 district monitoring officers and 21 monitoring officers, would be on duty during the voting, according to a spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner (Sindh).
Of the 167 voting places that the authorities have put up, 34 have been rated as sensitive and 127 as highly sensitive.
