India set a huge goal of 169 runs against Bangladesh in the Super Fours match on Wednesday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai thanks to a scorching fifty from Abhishek Sharma and a late burst from Hardik Pandya.
Jaker Ali, Bangladesh’s acting captain, made the mistake of putting India in the batting order, as the 2016 champions amassed 168/6 in their 20 overs.
India got off to a fast start thanks to their in-form opening duo of Abhishek and Shubman Gill, who combined for 77 runs in seven overs before Rishad Hossain gave Bangladesh a much-needed reprieve by dismissing the latter.
With a 19-ball 29 that included two fours and a six, Gill continued to be a significant contribution to India’s total.
