Qamar Zaman Kaira, a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), stated on Wednesday that his party remained supportive of the government despite not being involved in ministries or power-sharing during the recent flood disaster.
“We support the government even though we are not in the ministries. He recalled that the PPP had backed the previous administration before splitting from it, adding, “We stand with the [flood] victims, but we are not power-sharing.”
Speaking to a press conference, Kaira stated that inquiries concerning flood response needed to be addressed. He advised leaders to refrain from using outdated terminology that has hurt the political process and to keep dissent, criticism, and protest within democratic bounds.
