In a strong message delivered on October 21, 2025, Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, affirmed that operations are underway to eliminate India-supported proxies and terrorist groups operating in Balochistan. Speaking at the 17th National Workshop on Balochistan held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, he said that groups such as Fitna al‑Hindustan and Fitna al‑Khawarij are actively propagating anti-people and anti-development agendas in the province with malicious intent. According to Munir:

“All necessary actions are being taken to pursue these terrorists and rid the province of this menace.”

He described Balochistan as the “pride of Pakistan,” inhabited by resilient and patriotic people who represent its true strength. The COAS underscored development efforts by both federal and provincial governments to uplift the region’s socio-economic landscape. Citing the importance of youth empowerment and civil society engagement, he stressed that a people-centric approach is essential to unlocking Balochistan’s development potential and thwarting vested political agendas aimed at instability.

While reaffirming that Pakistan’s aim remains regional peace and stability, he issued a stern warning: any violation of the country’s territorial integrity—whether direct or indirect—will be met with a firm and decisive response aimed at safeguarding the lives and well-being of its citizens.

for Research and Security StudiesData indicate that Balochistan, alongside neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has borne a disproportionate share of terrorism-related incidents in the country, with over 96 percent of violence recorded in these border provinces. A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) found that Balochistan accounted for about 25 percent of the nation’s violence-linked fatalities and incidents.

In closing the workshop, the army chief engaged directly with participants in a candid question-and-answer session—reinforcing the message that the province’s stability and prosperity lie at the heart of Pakistan’s future.
