Indonesian authorities are probing a student suspected of involvement in explosions at a school mosque in North Jakarta that left 96 people injured. The blasts occurred during Friday prayers, causing panic among worshippers.
National police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed that investigators have collected several pieces of evidence, including writings and explosive powder. So far, one wounded student has been identified as a suspect, though officials have not ruled out additional accomplices.
Authorities are also examining the suspect’s family connections and social media activity to understand the motive behind the attack. Twenty-nine victims remain hospitalized, with at least two in intensive care.
Witnesses described confusion at the scene, initially mistaking the sound of the explosions for malfunctioning electronics. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine how and why the blasts occurred.
