Chevy Chase, an iconic founding cast member of Saturday Night Live, has openly discussed the personal hurt he felt after being excluded from the show’s landmark 50th-anniversary special earlier this year.
“I said, ‘Okay, I take it back, silly.’ But it’s not that silly,” Chase explained. “Somebody’s made a bad mistake there… They should’ve had me on that stage. It hurt.”
Chevy Chase was a central figure in SNL’s launch in 1975, famously anchoring the first “Weekend Update” segment. His tenure on the show lasted from its debut until midway through its second season in 1976, cementing his status as a comedy legend.
