White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Democrats and major media Monday of “lying from the very beginning” about the ICE officer Minneapolis shooting. She claimed their initial accounts misrepresented the incident and forced them to adjust their narrative.
The Incident in Minneapolis
On January 7, an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good after she reportedly tried to run him over. The Department of Homeland Security stated the officer acted in self-defense. Secretary Kristi Noem added that Good had been “stalking” ICE officers.
Democratic leaders, including Hillary Clinton, condemned the shooting and criticized the administration’s handling of law enforcement.
Leavitt Defends the ICE Officer
Leavitt emphasized that Democrats misled the public. Video evidence shows the officer was struck by Good’s car. She said the woman used the vehicle as a weapon, justifying the officer’s response. According to Leavitt, President Trump was right to support the ICE officer Minneapolis shooting response, and the officer acted as a trained, experienced protector of communities.
Harassment of ICE Agents Nationwide
Leavitt warned that ICE agents across the U.S. face harassment that makes their work difficult. She praised the officer involved as “brave” and noted that agitators forced him into a dangerous situation.
