Fatal Shooting in Texas
Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old from Warrington, England, died after being shot at her father’s home in Prosper, near Dallas, Texas, on January 10, 2025. An autopsy confirmed she died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Local authorities in Texas investigated the case as possible manslaughter, but a grand jury declined to indict her father, Kris Harrison.
UK Inquest Opens
Cheshire authorities in England launched an inquest to determine the circumstances of Harrison’s death. The proceeding, held at Cheshire Coroner’s Court in Warrington, is ongoing and has been adjourned pending formal conclusions.
Argument Over Politics
Harrison’s boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the inquest that she had a heated argument with her father about President Donald Trump earlier that day. During the dispute, Lucy questioned her father about how he would feel if she had been sexually assaulted. Her father responded that it would not upset him much because he had two other daughters, which left Lucy visibly upset. She then went upstairs.
The Shooting Incident
Approximately 30 minutes later, as the family prepared to leave for the airport, Kris Harrison led Lucy into his bedroom. A loud gunshot was heard shortly afterward. He later stated that he had relapsed and consumed about 17 ounces of white wine that day. Harrison claimed he wanted to show his daughter a Glock 9 mm handgun he kept for family protection.
He said he did not remember whether his finger was on the trigger when the gun discharged. Officers at the scene noticed the smell of alcohol, and CCTV footage confirmed he had purchased two cartons of wine shortly before the incident.
Legal Proceedings and Statements
At the inquest, Harrison requested the coroner be recused, citing possible bias, but the request was denied. Through his solicitors, he stated he fully accepted responsibility for the outcome and expressed deep remorse.
Family Remembers Lucy
Harrison’s family described her as loving and vibrant, someone who enjoyed both adventure and cozy nights at home. They highlighted her boldness in conversations and her ability to embrace life fully. The family expressed profound heartbreak over her death.
