On September 14, Ilya Tsaruk, 25, and his pregnant wife Sophia Tsaruk, 26, were discovered unconscious in the sea close to Ahihi-Kina’u Natural Area Reserve on Maui.
The couple, who had an 18-month-old kid who was not with them at the time, were residents of Washington State in the United States. Before their second kid, whom they intended to call Melody, was born, they had gone on vacation.
Emergency personnel discovered Mrs. Tsaruk unconscious in the ocean approximately 140 meters off the coast. A jet ski was used to transport her back to land. The hunt for her continued while they attempted CPR.
Eventually, Mr. Tsaruk was discovered “on the bottom” of the sea, and he was also taken to the beach for rescue breathing.
At the scene, both were declared deceased.
Family relatives stated the Tsaruks had been on a babymoon in Hawaii with two other couples, including Mr. Tsaruk’s brother and his wife, in an interview with the local news station KITV.
The family said that at the time of the event, they were donning full-face snorkel masks.
