In what officials described as a campaign against “vice,” Taliban authorities in Afghanistan stepped up their crackdown on internet access on Wednesday, cutting out fiber optic links in several areas.
Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban Supreme Leader, ordered the action, which has essentially shut down high-speed internet in multiple areas over the course of two days, leaving tens of thousands without access and raising concerns among residents.
