Following a fire alarm on Tuesday that turned out to be a false alarm, six scheduled arrivals at Bristol Airport were rerouted “as a precaution”.
An airport representative expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
They verified that planes were “returning to normal” and that airport operations had resumed.
The false warning resulted in the diversion of easyJet flights from Inverness, Lanzarote, and Marrakesh, as well as TUI flights from Santorini and Skiathos.
Ryanair’s flight from Gran Canaria was the sixth to be rerouted during the incident.
Staff members were coordinating with airlines to get passengers from diverted flights back, according to a spokesman for Bristol Airport.
“Earlier this afternoon, our airport control tower was evacuated,” they continued.Investigation revealed that this was a false alarm, but as a precaution, we did momentarily halt airport operations.
“We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to passengers.”
