According to our research, males are drawn to the possibility of financial gain more easily. Female investors "appear more likely to connect investing with real-life goals, from building emergency savings to looking after children," according to Jemma Slingo, pensions and investment specialist at Fidelity International. It's crucial to keep in mind that, due to the ongoing gender pay discrepancy, women in the UK often have less money to invest than men. Investing "needs to do a better job of making investing feel accessible, relevant, and connected to people's own goals and values," according to Macdonald.Women's long-term financial stability and the UK economy would both benefit from addressing this.

US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

She met Brian Hickerson, her new lover, just before Nashville's production concluded. Later on, he became aggressive; according to Panettiere, he would smack her head against the wall and once battered her face so severely that she was unable to leave her home for weeks. In her 36 years, she faced more challenges than most, and she tried to deal with them by writing her book, which was released in May. She concluded by assuring readers that she had learned to "walk hand in hand with my triumphs and my tragedies, because they have made me who I am" and that she had come to terms with her past while maintaining optimism for the future.

A former imam in east London has been sentenced to life in prison. He must serve at least 20 years. The court found him guilty of serious sexual crimes against women and girls. Abdul Halim Khan, aged 54, used his religious position to gain trust. He then abused that trust to target victims from his local community. Abuse of Religious Authority The court heard that Khan used his role as an imam to control and manipulate victims. He targeted women and girls from the Bangladeshi Muslim community between 2005 and 2014. He chose isolated places to carry out the attacks. These included private flats and hidden locations. The victims said they felt trapped and afraid to speak out due to his influence. Conviction and Charges In February, a jury found Khan guilty of multiple offences. These included rape, sexual assault, and child sexual offences. In total, he was convicted on 21 counts. The judge stated that Khan abused his position of trust. The court also highlighted how he used religious influence to silence victims. Judge’s Remarks on the Case At Snaresbrook Crown Court, the judge described Khan as manipulative and dangerous. The court said he misused religion for personal gain. The judge said Khan believed his position made him untouchable. He also believed victims would not be believed if they reported the abuse. Impact on Victims Victims gave powerful statements in court. They described long lasting emotional trauma and fear. One victim said she was abused as a child. She said the experience deeply affected her mental health. Another victim described Khan as someone who caused extreme harm and fear through lies and manipulation. Some victims said the abuse pushed them toward self harm and severe emotional distress.

fe The crisis has been driven by a severe lack of diesel and fuel oil, which are essential for electricity generation. Reports indicate the country’s power system is under extreme pressure, with hospitals struggling to operate normally and many schools and government offices shutting down. Tourism, one of Cuba’s key income sources, has also been heavily disrupted. Recent reporting shows parts of Havana and other regions have experienced extremely long power cuts, in some cases lasting most of the day, as the national grid weakens further. Tensions over fuel supply and sanctions Cuban officials argue that US restrictions on fuel imports are the main reason for the shortage. They say these measures have reduced or stopped shipments from traditional suppliers such as Venezuela and Mexico. US officials, however, have defended their policy, saying the economic pressure is linked to broader political conditions and governance issues in Havana. Washington has also renewed its aid offer while maintaining criticism of Cuba’s leadership. Rare protests highlight public frustration The worsening situation has triggered rare street protests in Havana and other cities. Residents have demonstrated against prolonged blackouts, with growing anger over food spoilage, lack of electricity, and disruptions to essential services. Key point Cuba is now balancing between accepting external assistance and managing a deepening energy emergency that is already affecting healthcare, education, and public order.

Five Breathing Exercises That May Improve Stress, Focus, and Long Term Health Breathing happens automatically, yet the way we breathe can strongly affect how we feel and how our body performs. Recent research in breathwork shows that simple breathing techniques may help reduce stress, support mental clarity, and improve long term wellbeing when practiced regularly for just a few minutes a day. This idea is not new. Breath control has been part of traditional practices like pranayama from India and qigong from China for centuries. What is new is how modern science is starting to explain why these methods work. Experts suggest that small changes in breathing patterns can influence the nervous system, lower stress responses, and help the body return to a calmer state more quickly. What Breathwork Means Breathwork refers to conscious control of breathing patterns. Instead of breathing on autopilot, a person pays attention to rhythm, speed, and depth of each breath. Researchers describe it as a simple but powerful way to support both physical and mental health. It may help lower stress hormones and improve emotional balance in many people. Why It Matters for Health Ongoing stress can affect the body in many ways. It is linked to anxiety, depression, and other long term health problems. High stress levels may also worsen existing health conditions. Studies suggest that controlled breathing can help reduce stress signals in the body. It may also support people living with chronic conditions by helping them feel more relaxed and balanced. While results can vary from person to person, even short daily practice may create noticeable changes over time.

Kyiv Faces Deadly Overnight Russian Drone and Missile Assault Heavy strikes hit Ukraine’s capital and multiple regions Kyiv has been hit by one of the most intense waves of Russian drone and missile attacks since the war began in 2022. Officials say at least eight people were killed, including a 12 year old girl. Rescue teams recovered bodies from the ruins of a damaged apartment block, while operations continue to find around 20 people still missing. Ukraine’s emergency service confirmed that 45 people were injured, among them two children. Authorities declared a day of mourning in Kyiv to honor the victims. Massive drone and missile barrage across the country President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia launched more than 670 drones and 56 missiles overnight. He added that over 180 sites were struck across Ukraine, including more than 50 residential buildings. According to Zelensky, Ukrainian defenses intercepted a large share of the attack. He reported a 93 percent interception rate for drones and 73 percent for missiles. However, he warned that defending against ballistic missiles remains a major challenge. He also stated that more than 1,560 drones were launched at Ukrainian cities since Tuesday night, calling the continued attacks a clear sign that the war is far from ending. Rescue operations continue in Kyiv Emergency teams are still working through destroyed buildings in Kyiv. The focus remains on locating survivors trapped under rubble. Local officials said the damage to residential areas is severe, with entire sections of buildings reduced to debris. Ukraine calls for stronger air defense support Zelensky stressed the urgent need for more advanced air defense systems, especially US made Patriot systems capable of stopping ballistic missiles. He said shortages of these systems are limiting Ukraine’s ability to fully protect its cities. International reaction and new support package European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the strikes, saying they deliberately target civilians and cause widespread destruction. She also announced that the European Union is preparing a 6 billion euro drone support package for Ukraine and plans to tighten sanctions on Russia’s war economy.
