Former Disney CEO Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, the brother of US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared, are purchasing the majority stake in one of the most recognizable sports clubs in the world. LA Lakers Set for Record $12.5bn Sale to Kushner and Iger In a deal that was unanimously authorized by the NBA Board of Governors in October 2025. Walter purchased his stake from the Buss family for an estimated $10 billion (£7.45 billion), setting a previous record. Kushner and Iger said: “As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. “We greatly admire the vision and leadership of Jerry and Jeanie Buss. How Mark Walter Became Lakers Owner “Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles.” In 1979, Jerry Buss purchased the Lakers for $67.5 million (£50 million), which also included the Los Angeles Kings hockey franchise and the Kia Forum, a Los Angeles arena. Before a contract was finalized with Walter, who also holds a part in the LA Dodgers alongside Todd Boehly, ownership was transferred to his six children in a trust upon his death in 2013. Lakers Have 17 NBA Championships “One of the greatest honors of my life has been owning the Los Angeles Lakers,” Walter remarked. The community, the supporters, and a city that views this team as family are what I will take with me, even if it has been an incredible investment. I appreciate being welcomed into this chapter by Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff. Los Angeles owns the Lakers, and I’m confident that the greatest is still to come.” The LA Lakers have won 17 NBA titles, one fewer than the Boston Celtics’ record of 18. Kushner’s involvement in the recent scandal regarding Fifa head Gianni Infantino and an abandoned plan before the sale. How the Buss Family Owned the Lakers I am appreciative to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for allowing me to be a part of this chapter. Los Angeles owns the Lakers, and I am confident that the greatest is still to come.” With 17 NBA titles, the LA Lakers are one behind the Boston Celtics’ record of 18. Kushner’s involvement in the recent scandal surrounding Fifa head Gianni Infantino and an abandoned attempt to sell private investors shares in the governing body’s competitions before the agreement. It was anticipated that the planned investor group for the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative would be led by Kushner’s American venture capital firm, Thrive Eternal. US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

Dark Origins Behind Today’s Fairy Romance Trend Dangerous Fairies Inspire Modern Fantasy Boom Modern fairy fiction is no longer about gentle, glowing creatures. Today’s stories present fairies as powerful, risky, and emotionally intense beings. This darker image actually comes from old folklore, not modern imagination. A surge in “fae romance” or romantasy has pushed this trend into the spotlight. Popular book series like A Court of Thorns and Roses have driven massive sales and global attention. The genre blends fantasy, romance, and sometimes bold emotional themes, attracting a wide audience. From Folklore to Modern Storytelling The idea of fairies as seductive and unpredictable is centuries old. In early European folklore, fairies were not harmless. They often tricked humans, changed shapes, and formed dangerous relationships with them. Stories from Nordic regions describe forest spirits like the skogsrå. She appears as a beautiful woman but hides animal features. Legends warn that relationships with such beings could lead to death. Similar myths appear across cultures. These tales often show supernatural beings forming close, sometimes risky bonds with humans. The Story of Tam Lin and Role Reversal One famous Scottish ballad from the 1500s tells the story of Tam Lin and a woman named Janet. She meets him in a forest, and their relationship leads to unexpected consequences. In the story, Janet becomes pregnant and later discovers Tam Lin is trapped by the Fairy Queen. Instead of being rescued, Janet takes action herself. She faces magical challenges to save him. This tale flips the usual “hero saves the woman” idea. It also shows strong emotional and symbolic elements, including transformation and loyalty. The Mélusine Legend and Otherworldly Love Another well-known tradition is the Mélusine legend. It tells of a mysterious water spirit who forms a relationship with a human man. Variations of this story appear across Europe, especially in Ireland. These stories highlight a common theme. Humans and supernatural beings form deep but complicated connections. Trust, secrecy, and transformation often shape these relationships. Shakespeare’s Influence on Fairy Myth Fairy folklore also influenced classic literature. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare presents fairies as playful but unpredictable. The fairy queen Titania falls in love with a man magically altered to look like a donkey. This mix of humor, magic, and strange attraction reflects older beliefs about fairies. They were never fully kind or safe. Why This Trend Still Works Today Modern readers connect with these stories because they offer more than simple fantasy. They explore power, emotion, and complex relationships. Today’s fairy fiction keeps the original folklore alive but adapts it for a new audience. The result is a genre that feels both ancient and fresh.

Do Dome and Sphere venues represent the future of entertainment? The New Live Experience Las Vegas Sphere is leading the way in this new trend. The experience is described by visitors as being completely different than traditional cinemas or concerts. Danielle Renee attended the Backstreet Boys concert in Washington State and commented that the graphics made it feel as if she were on a journey through space. She said animated stars and a spaceship along with surrounding graphics brought the show to life. The Las Vegas Sphere is a Standout Las Vegas Sphere has a huge interior screen with curved edges that is about 15000 square meters. The audience can be surrounded by visuals rather than having them displayed on a flat-screen. It's more immersive than just watching the content. The experience is a combination of live music and advanced visual effects that can't be matched by traditional venues. Crowd interaction, sound, and visuals create an engaging atmosphere. The Concept Beyond Las Vegas It is spreading. Cosm plans to expand its locations in the United States. The aim of these spaces is to broadcast live sport and movies with visuals that go beyond the screen. It is important to create a sense of immersion for the viewer, so that they feel as if they were part of the action. Some People Are Not Convinced Not everyone is convinced that this new format of entertainment will eventually replace the traditional form. Some people argue that attending a movie or concert can be satisfying enough on their own. Some audiences may not enjoy the added effects. Concerns are raised about the long-term market. During its early development, Las Vegas Sphere was faced with financial difficulties and concerns about the audience's support. Some critics found the first experience overwhelming and confusing. Signs of Profitability and Success The Sphere's offerings have improved over time and it has attracted more people. It reported net earnings of $57.6m in 2025. This shows that the Sphere concept is commercially viable when combined with high-quality content and an engaged audience. Future Prototypes Dome venues are a model in its early stages, according to experts. These domes aren't a replacement for the traditional form of entertainment, but they do offer an insight into future possibilities. Immersion is the focus of these spaces, which combine visuals, sounds, and environments into a single experience. The conclusion of the article is: The dome and sphere may not be able to replace concert halls or cinemas, but these venues are defining a whole new genre of entertainment. These immersive spaces may become more common as technology and content improve.

US Strategy towards Kharg Island: what it means Kharg Island, Iran is the main oil export hub. Nearly 90 percent of Iran's crude oil leaves this tiny offshore area. The deep water allows large tankers to easily load crude oil, which is a key asset for Iran’s economy. The possibility that the US might try to seize control of the island is gaining in popularity. It would aim to stop Iran's oil imports, and put pressure on the Iranian leadership. This would only be a temporary move, and the goal was to force political concessions. Why Kharg island matters It is a key player in the global supply chain of energy. A disruption to the oil market could have a global impact. It has been historically a major target in conflicts. It was repeatedly targeted by airstrikes during the Iran-Iraq war, despite its oil infrastructure continuing to operate. Recently, tensions in the area have led to some military attacks. But the key oil production sites were not affected, demonstrating how important this area is to global stability. What Could a Military Operation Look Like? Airborne forces and naval forces would be involved in any US operation. The paratroopers can be sent out at night in order to quickly secure the key positions of an island. Marines can also be deployed via amphibious vehicles or aircraft to reach the island by sea. The operation will be complicated. US ships will need to cross the Strait of Hormuz - an area that is heavily controlled and monitored by Iran. Iranian missile and drone systems could be a serious threat during the approach. US forces will face mines and drones as well as ground defenses once they reach the island. The US may be able to take control of the island, but holding it would be difficult because mainland Iran is constantly putting pressure on the US. Risques and challenges This mission would be fraught with danger. The initial attack and the battle to maintain control over the island could result in high casualties. The Iranian leadership has warned that a strong response will be taken, which increases the likelihood of an escalation. A broader issue is at play. An occupation that is prolonged could be unpopular in the United States. People would be hesitant to take part in another war, particularly one that has high stakes or uncertain results. Iran will likely continue to attack, just as Ukraine did during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The situation would become unstable and prolonged.
