President Pezeshkian Open to Negotiations Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country is ready to negotiate with the United States after requests from friendly regional governments. He instructed Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to pursue talks, but only if conditions are suitable—free from threats and unreasonable demands. Supreme Leader Warns Against Attack This announcement follows a warning from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He stated that any attack on Iran could trigger a "regional war." The US has built up forces in the area and warned of military action if Iran does not reach a nuclear deal or stop suppressing protests. Conditions for Negotiations Pezeshkian emphasized that any talks must be "fair and equitable" and protect Iran’s national interests. Reports suggest discussions could take place in Istanbul this Friday. Araghchi is expected to meet US envoy Steve Witkoff. Egypt, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE may also join the talks. US and Iranian Positions Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful and denies seeking nuclear weapons. Araghchi expressed confidence in reaching a deal to prevent nuclear armament. On the US side, President Trump said he is open to negotiations but warned failure could lead to serious consequences. The US military deployment includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and three destroyers equipped with Tomahawk missiles. Regional Diplomacy Efforts Middle Eastern leaders are calling for diplomacy to prevent conflict. UAE adviser Anwar Gargash urged direct talks to avoid repeated crises. Qatar noted ongoing diplomatic efforts in coordination with neighboring countries. Past Conflicts and Current Risks Tensions follow last year’s US and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks against Israel and a US base in Qatar. Trump demanded Iran end uranium enrichment, limit its missile program, and stop supporting armed groups. Iran insists on its right to uranium enrichment but is willing to show flexibility under certain arrangements. Domestic Unrest and Human Rights Concerns Iran has faced widespread protests over economic hardship and political grievances. US and human rights groups report thousands of deaths. Iranian authorities report lower numbers, citing security forces and bystander casualties. Khamenei described the unrest as external sedition intended to destabilize Iran.

The Abbey Library of St Gallen in eastern Switzerland is a treasure trove of history and knowledge. Its Baroque hall, filled with manuscripts, globes, and unique curiosities, has survived for over 1,300 years, making it one of the world’s oldest and most remarkable libraries. A Journey Back in Time I arrived early in St Gallen when the streets were quiet, and the church bells were still silent. The abbey’s grand stone architecture, with its arched windows, spires, and cloisters, immediately created a sense of awe. Inside, historian Albert Holenstein guided me through echoing corridors to an ornate Baroque doorway. Carved above the entrance was a Greek phrase, "Psyches Iatreion," meaning "healing place of the soul." This ancient inscription hinted at the library’s spiritual and historical significance. A Library of Wonders The library itself is breathtaking. Its intricate wooden bookcases, painted Baroque ceiling, and rows of leather-bound tomes create a scene straight out of a fantasy novel. Terrestrial and celestial globes, Egyptian mummies, and cabinets filled with curiosities from around the world make it feel magical. Items range from silver knives from Turkey to miniature shoes from Indonesia, alongside fossils, shells, and coins. The Abbey Library is more than a collection of religious texts. It houses works on law, music, medicine, astronomy, grammar, arithmetic, rhetoric, and poetry. The abbey served not only as a religious center but also as a hub of education and knowledge, explaining the depth and variety of its collection. Ancient Origins and Rich Heritage The library dates back to the early 7th Century when Irish missionary Saint Gall founded a hermitage that later became the abbey. The current Baroque hall was built in 1767, but the library has preserved its rich heritage. Its collections include 160,000 manuscripts and early printed works, including over 2,100 medieval codices, some written before the year 1000. It also contains the largest collection of Irish manuscripts on mainland Europe, brought by pilgrims traveling to Rome. High German manuscripts in the archive showcase the earliest written examples of the language. Each book tells a story, reflecting the spiritual and intellectual power of written knowledge. Surviving Centuries of Upheaval What makes the Abbey Library of St Gallen truly remarkable is its survival through centuries of political and religious turmoil. Unlike monasteries in England, Wales, and Ireland that were dismantled in the 16th Century, or church properties seized during the French Revolution, St Gallen’s library remained protected. During the abbey’s temporary dissolution between 1797 and 1805, its collections were carefully guarded and preserved by the local Catholic community. Today, the library remains a symbol of learning and history, a place where visitors can experience the wonder of centuries-old manuscripts and treasures.

China has officially banned hidden car door handles in electric vehicles due to growing safety concerns. The country is the first in the world to take this step. The move follows several deadly accidents where passengers could not open car doors during emergencies. The new rule mainly affects electric vehicles, hybrids, and fuel cell cars. These models fall under China’s new energy vehicle category. Safety incidents push regulators to act Chinese regulators acted after multiple serious crashes raised alarm. Two fatal accidents involving Xiaomi electric cars sparked major concern. Investigators believe power failures stopped the electronic door systems from working. As a result, passengers could not exit the vehicles in time. Hidden door handles became popular after Tesla introduced them. Many manufacturers later copied the design. While the handles improve appearance and airflow, they depend heavily on electricity. This creates a risk during crashes or power loss. New rules require mechanical door releases China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology now requires all passenger doors to include mechanical handles. This applies to both the inside and outside of the vehicle, except for the boot. Each outside door must include a recessed space large enough for easy access. The space must measure at least six centimeters by two centimeters by two point five centimeters. Inside the car, clear signs must show how to open the door manually. These signs must meet minimum size requirements so passengers can spot them quickly in emergencies. Deadline set for new and existing models The new rules will take effect on first January two thousand twenty seven. Car models already approved for sale will get extra time. Manufacturers have two additional years to update their designs and meet the standards. This gives carmakers time to redesign doors without pulling vehicles from the market. Hidden handles dominate the EV market Hidden door handles are common in China’s electric vehicle industry. Around sixty percent of the top one hundred best selling new energy vehicles use this design. The data comes from figures published by China Daily. Because China plays a major role in global car production, the ban could influence rules in other countries. Global impact and Tesla investigations Safety regulators in the United States and Europe are already reviewing similar designs. In November, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into Tesla door handles. The agency received nine complaints related to Tesla Model Y vehicles from two thousand twenty one. In several cases, doors failed to open. Some owners had to break windows to rescue children trapped inside. European authorities are also reviewing whether to introduce similar safety rules.
